Dr. Barbara A. Ybarra

I currently serve as the Associate Superintendent of Teaching and Learning in a central Texas district. I am passionate about learning, leadership, and serving students of poverty.

I live and stand firmly by the core principle of the district where I serve: Every student will be unconditionally accepted, supported, and celebrated. Every child deserves a champion that will guide them to their own discoveries.

EDUCATIONAL BELIEFS

A quality educator is one that invests in each student and in the community as a whole. He/she must have an unwavering belief that all students can learn and that achievement gaps of any kind are unacceptable. Education is a personal experience and each student has unique learning needs, which requires instruction to be differentiated. We must educate our students for their futures, not our present. Looking ahead can be challenging, but it is the responsibility of all educators to meet the current and future needs of the student.

Above all things, an effective leader is a lifelong learner who continues to grow as well as develop those around him/her. I believe in building a school community that is collaborative, authentic and grounded in research-based practices. As the leader, I will build a solid, synergistic team that will stay focused on the vision and actively work toward the fruition of each district goal. Empowerment is key to the success of the team; each member is needed and must be free to do the job for which they were hired.
